Hi, the last Version of Paradox we use is 9, is it really worth upgrading to
12 ( which is according to this Forum still the same as 10/11 ). What are
the major differences, if any.

Paradox 10 introduced a lot undocumented methods, and twain methods for
aquiring images. The ObjectPAL printer handling methods were also changed.

P10 SP3 is a pretty stable version of Paradox. Some of the minor changes
made in P11 and the version of Paradox that's included in WPOffice 12
(Paradox 11.302) were not to the better.

Start with Bertil's bug list and see what is fixed and what is new for bugs and
if any of that matters to what you are doing. You also get the free runtime with
newer versions which can be helpful.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer. If you've never seen it, it's not as silly as
it sounds and, for the first three seasons anyhow, had some of the best
writing and dialog ever shown/heard on TV. They show it 2 to 4 times a
day on FX now. And be sure to watch a couple of episodes before passing
judgement - one just aint' enough to get into it.

And while you're at it, rent or buy the Firefly DVD set...

So, what would be the verdict then, in my case with respect to version 9
SP4? Buy, hold or sell?

I'm very interested by the WordPerfect 12 text processor; right now I
use WP9 continuously as a semi-professionnal translator. Paradox would
be used only for internal jobs and hobbies.

One problem, of course, is where to buy WPO 12 Pro in Finland (or
Europe). All I've seen being sold through the internet are either the
standard or the student / teacher versions.

No, it came through originally. This duplicate instance of the message
that just showed up looks like a "Denn's Greatest Hits".

I thought that Pdx 11 &12 simply had the splash screen updated with the new
suite version number.

What changes were made to Pdx 11 and 12? Especially, what changes were for
the worse?

Thanks,
O.J.

For some reason Table Repair does not work unless you replace the existing
tuwwr32.dll with the one from P10 SP3.

You can for some reason get errors with reference to ntdll.dll when working
with forms, especially when editing calcualted fields.

AFAIK they also toggled the compile switch so delivered parts are not swapable
between 11 and 12.

: between 11 and 12.

I don't believe there IS a '12'. I think it stopped with 11.

Tony:

You're correct, as usual <g>.

Per the info on the WP 12 SP1 web page:

-------------------------------------------------
Version number
Each application has a version number, if you want to know the full version
number of your installation, click Help, About in any Corel application, or
check the volinfo.txt file at the root of Programs CD.

Applications and Components Initial Release Service Pack 1
WordPerfect® 12 12.0.0.238 12.0.0.288
Quattro Pro® 12 12.0.0.238 12.0.0.288
PresentationsTM 12 12.0.0.238 12.0.0.288
Paradox® 11.0.0.302 11.0.0.302

-------------------------------------------------

You'll see than Pdx is listed as v11.

Note that the version # of Pdx did /not/ change in SP1, as no updates were
made to it.

Cheers,
O.J.

Several french resellers (including us) can supply you with WPO 12 Pro. I'm
not sure whether we are allowed to resell Paradox on i own (without WPO)
outside France: this seems to be a local initiative by Corel France.
