Is this pause/delay a network problem, or is is a virus scan problem?
How would I trouble shoot it???
Thanks for any suggestions

I heard about this, but I don't understand it. Yes I use Norton, and yes
I use Win 2000. How do I know if norton did this??? Actually, I had
upgraded to a newer Norton, when this problem arose, and it doesn't work
right. However, my older '02 version of Norton seemed to work fine with
system.
So, how do I know if my windows is using a Norton replacement for Win
Sys Tray???
Thank you.

The My Files directory is on my computer. Its not really a true network.
Its just to share internet, and occasionally printers through a router.
There is no dedicated computer that holds info for others. (Maybe called
a peer to peer??......its my office computer, my wifes computer <and god
forbid I use that>, and my laptop via wireless, now and then>).

I'm not sure how to check this. Does the SysTray look different? If
you launch task manager, is there an application or a process running
called SysTray (or similar)?

I did an ALT CTRL DLT to get Windows task manager and I checked the
processes running, and there was a process called symtray, which I am
guessing is symantec tray. So I stopped it, and the problem gets a lot
better. It only pauses occasionally (Like every 20th directory I pop
into). So perhaps thats the problem. I will use msconfig or find another
way to disable. Will post my result.
