A number of times when I try to load WP10, I get the opening flash
screen and then the loading process hangs up. The only solution is to
use CTRL-ALT-DEL to end the program, then reboot the whole system. I'm
running WP10 on a system with Win XP SP2 (but it was doing it before I
installed SP2, so I don't think this is the problem). Any ideas out there?

To help, please supply details - version of WP (from Help|About - the
whole number: x.x.x.x), which printer and how attached, any network
details.

It is WP ver. 10.0.0.990.  The system is Win XP Service Pack 2, and the default printer is a HP DeskJet Plus connected to the parallel printer port of the computer, an Athlon 2600 with an ASUS motherboard and 512 meg of memory.

Then a lockup during launch, requiring C-A-D and reboot is very
surprising.
Do you have ()Save workspace enabled? (so that WP starts [when
it does] showing any documents that were Open when it last
closed).
While others furrow the brow, you might try in Safe Mode and see
if WP launches there.

Try deleting your printers and reinstalling them.

Gary,

Please try carefully not to move the mouse while WPWin10 is starting.
Does that help?

On clearing the lock-up, you should be able to end-task the WPWin10
process, obviating teh need for a reboot.
