Are there any known problems with WP10 and Xerox printers? I am
networked in my office to a number of printers. Documents print fine on
all of them except a Xerox Document Center 440 PS machine, which,
unfortunately, is the main printer on the network. When I try to print
something, it never shows up in the print queue; moreover, my WP10 then
freezes so badly that even CTRL-ALT-DEL can't recover it. I have to
turn off the whole computer (a Dell Optiplex 260 with 256k of RAM) and
then power up again from scratch. MS Word 2003 and WordPad work fine
with the printer.

Don't set the Xerox to be your default printer (set up a dummy printer
if necessary).

Also, check the Xerox website for an updated driver or for a substitute
driver (often a HP driver).

I have seen no such reports.
Sometimes in Windows deleting the printer (associated files also) and
reinstalling it helps.
You could try launching (on my system):
E:\Program Files\Corel\WordPerfect Office 2002\Programs\PrintServer100.exe
before WP. If that helps, you can add a shortcut to the .exe to the Startup
folder.

I think one of the Hot Patches was intended to fix problems with Xerox
printers (sorry I don't remember the model(s)).

If you are updated to the final WPWin 10 version (10.0.0.990), then you
would already have that fix.

Do Help, About WordPerfect and note the version number, in the form
10.0.0.xxx.

If you are less than 10.0.0.719, download and execute ...
ftp://ftp.corel.com/pub/WordPerfect/wpwin/10/WPO2002SP3.EXE

If you are at 10.0.0.719 or 10.0.0.785, download and execute ...
ftp://ftp.corel.com/pub/WordPerfect/wpwin/10/english/WPO2002SP4EN.exe

[Note: The above URL is all one line though may be split in this message]

Launching PrintServer100.exe doesn't seem to do anything.  I click on the icon, an hourglass appears, and then the hourglass disappears.  What is supposed to happen with this program?

I've got the latest version. In fact, I may have to give up printing
anything on this printer, since our information services people install
the printer drivers and maintain the network and only support MS Word
(which, incidentally, works fine with the printer). WP is my own copy,
and our information services policy is that you can install your own
software on your office computer but you have to maintain it yourself.
They aren't going to troubleshoot this WP-printer interface problem.

If you then do Ctrl-Alt-Del (i.e. Task Manager), you will see that it is
now running.

At this point, test your printing to see if the problems continue or have
been resolved. If they have been resolved, add a shortcut to
PrintServer100.exe to your Startup folder.

Nothing was changed.  I find that I can use the Xerox printer, however, if I save a file in PDF format and then print it from Acrobat Reader.  Ridiculous, but it works...
