I tried installing this on XP, and had no success. Does anyone know if
it's compatible, or if there is a fix somewhere?

People usually pose WP8 questions in the WP8 group.
You must have it patched to SP7 - I hope, here:
ftp://ftp.corel.com/pub/WordPerfect/wpwin/8/
(beware wordwrap)
The service pack 7 file is called wp8sp7.exe

Also, check out: wp8sp7_readme.htm (same address).
