My company produces software that runs on AIX servers and one of our
programs uses WordPerfect. I'm having an issue running wpdest on an AIX 5.2
server running WordPerfect 7 for AIX. No matter how I try to define the
destination, either through adding a printer as root from the printer menu
or by running /u/wp7/shbin10/wpdest, the program fails bringing me back to a
# with the line "Reading system spooler files" right above the #. Is it
trying to create a file and it can't or is it trying to read a file and
can't? Either way, I need to be able to get past this and create the
printer destination. There are several printers already set up on this
server but all the setup was done by the customer. I've asked if they were
set up any differently than normal on an AIX box (through smit) and they
said yes.

PS - could not post this to corel.wpoffice.office-old_version. I received a
no sender specified error.

Thanks for you help.

You seem to have been successful...

Sorry but this is Greek to this windows-oriented person. I know of WPWin 8
for Linux but "...WordPerfect 7 for AIX..." does not ring a bell. Could you
please explain further.

If somebody smarter than I replies and obviously understands more than I,
please ignore my message.

Thanks Jack. I still haven't found a solution. We have other customers on
AIX 5.x with WP - not the same version but they're able to create printer
definitions. the wpdest program just will not run and without a printer, I
can't even format documents much less print them out.

Sorry for my ignorance but is this a Unix version?

Is there a way that you can go to the same version/setup as the customers
who _can_ print?

The problem is that neither Jack nor I recognises <AIX> or <wpdest>.
Might you do better in the
wpoffice-wordperfect8-linux
group?

Yes, this is a unix flavor. Sorry Roy, I was told by phone support to post
here - even after I questioned him about it.

The version my customer is running is the same that we have at other
facilities with similar AIX versions (5.1 instead of 5.2). And when I
compare recently modified files on a system that does work, they match the
customer who has the problem. Still at a loss. It appears to me that it
cannot create a file that it needs to.

Thanks for your responses.
