I _Love_ WordPerfect ....

I still use version 8, because I find the way it enables me to save a file
to HTML, with backgorund, images, etc, is much easier to understand than
later versions

I've recently had to re-format and re-install everything, and am trying a
trial version of WP12 ... from what I read, and what I have observed after
searching the help-file, there is no information about how to include
images, backgrounds, etc (See my website below for samples of the pages I've
created ... I just upload the files with Total Commander)

So, I want to install WP 8 again.

should I uninstall v 12?

Is there any advantage to v 12 apart from later conversion filters for
other programs

Can I have more than one version on my machine?

My computer is an IBM ThinkPad running under Windows XP Professional ....
I have been running WP8 on that prior to having to re-format

thanks

Hi,

Yes, you can load WP8 along side WP12, just do not install it in the
same directory as WP12. The best way to install is to start with the
oldest version first but you can still install WP8 after WP12. You
might have to do a 'repair' of the WP12 installation after you finish
installing WP8.

Hope this helps,

You can install WPWin 8 without uninstalling 12 as long as you use the
default directory structure for 8 (i.e. do not install in the same
directories as 12).

Images, backgrounds, etc. are inserted in WPWin 12 in the same fashion as
in WPWin 8. What are you finding is different?

version 8 under the View menu has a "web page". When that view is
chosen, the pages looks as it would in a browser, and then under the
File menu there is a Properties option which opens an HTML Properties
box in which you can choose (amongst other items) a background colour or
a wallpaper

Again in the web page view in WP8 under the File Menu gives an Internet
Publisher menu; choosing Publish to HTML from that, you get options as
to where to save image files etc.

See "WordPerfect 8 Web Publishing for Dummies" by David Kay, IDG Books
for the benefits of this method

These two items are what keeps me coming back to version 8 ... and yes,
I have re-installed 8

For the moment I'm keeping the trial version of 12 on the machine, but
I'm asking myself "why"

Tell me some advantages

Thanks for your help

All these years that I have used WPWin 8 and I never noticed or used that
feature. It really does look easy!

Where you able to get your WPWin 8 reinstalled?

yes, the procedure is unbelievably simple, and I cannot imagine why it
is not still there. I did upgrade to version 9, but un-insatlled it
because I could not understand the changed system. And now, I can't work
out how to do it at all !!!!

How does one tell WP / Corel that they have ruined a very useful feature
!!!!

Yes, I've re-installed WP8. I've left the trial of WP12 in place; I
suppose I'll un-install 12 ... unless you (or others) can suggest why I
need it

Thanks for your help

WPWin 12 is useful if you need good Publish to PDF or HTML or if you need
good exchange with newer versions of MS Office.

However, doesn't the Trial version time out after a while?

yes, it does time out, so I'll need to make a decision soon ... thanks
for those ideas

noticing that so many people seem to run more that one version of Wp,
the question arises as to "why"

Also, is it possible to run more than one version of MS Word (not
meaning to get off the topic, and not planning to do so)

and, how do we tell Corel about features we like? (eg WP8 HTML publishing)

thanks again

Many people run more than one version because they don't want to remove
the old before installing the new, then just leave the old on.

For example, I often still use WPWin 8 because it is stable, loads
quickly, and does the job for all but the most special situations like
publishing to PDF or the like.

I am pretty sure that you cannot run more than one version of Word.
