Why must you hire professionals? Firm policy or something? If you could
write them before, you should be able to write them now, technically
speaking. They're not really much different than 5.1 days. More
capabilities of course but the designing of dialog boxes is quite easy.

I am sorry I've taken so long to reply. I've been out of town.
I don't know of any commercial document assembly programs other than Hot
Docs. I write custom macros to assemble complex documents based on each
client's particular (peculiar) needs.

Dear Georgiane
I have not checked in for a long time, so I will send this to you as well.
I have been using Hot Docs and Amicus Attorney extensively for a number of
years. Recently Amicus licenced a version of Ghostfill a document assembly
package and renamed it Amicus Fill.
I have polled both the Technolawyer and CSALT (Canadian Society for the
Advancement of Legal Technology) groups, and have found no one using it. I
tried it and found it both unintuitive and difficult to use. One of the
problems with start ups is no one is able to write an understandable user
manual, as it is the most difficult thing to do for the programmers.
The one big thing with Hot Docs now is that it is owned by Lexis-Nexis, and
they are vested in providing forms and correspondence for lawyers to use at
the Lexis Nexis web site.
