Does anyone have experience converting documents created in 5.1 file format
into version 8 file format? A friend of a friend's claims that when doing so
she lost some text, not just formatting. I'd appreciate hearing from anyone
who's noted anomalies in converting from 5.1 to 8.0, or in taking a document
created in 8 and saving it in 5.1 format--jeez, I'm assuming 8.0 has a filter
for that. Does it?

Anyway, if you've tried it, do you lose any text? Formatting? What happens to
footnotes, tables, and the position of graphics?

I haven't had any problems losing anything, text or formatting, when I convert
back and forth between 5.1 and WP 8.

Incidentally, I was searching this newsgroup because I have a problem with my
office DOS version of WordPerfect (not WP 5.1+, just plain old WP 5.1) in my
Novell 3.12 network environment. I have access and printing problems. I
wonder if anyone is a Novell/WP5.1 guru out there who might be able to help me
limp this network along until we upgrade in four or five months?

Any help appreciated. This e-mail address is ok, or TZ...@aol.com or
bill...@aol.com are fine too. Thanks so much.

We haven't lost any text, per se, but we have had style codes translate
incorrectly, especially footer codes!!!! It's been problematic for us in that
regard. Sorry I can't provide any thoughts on the lost text. Good luck, and
perhaps you might ask Gordan about this. I'll look for future postings on this
subject.
