Does anyone know how to create animated bitmaps? I need to create a
bitmap file to use for the animated logo for a personalized version of
Netscape that I am building, but I do not seem to be able to export my
animated gif files as such. is there such an export filter available or
if not is there a shareware program that will do this?

Are you sure that the animated image you have seen is really a .bmp ?
I've never heard of animated .bmp images before ! Maybe only the
extension is .bmp but the real format is something different ?

Hi Timothy,

This really isn't possible. There are other 'movie' files but these have
specific file types like avi or mpeg. Animated bitmaps are animated gifs
- files that are in gif formats. Browsers wouldn't recognize them
otherwise.

Is it possible you created your animation *with bitmaps and you need to
convert them to 256 (paletted) files before you can export them as an
animated gif?

Do you use Netscape? That animated graphic in the upper rh corner the N with
the shooting stars, Netscape says that with their CCK you can replace those.
The only information that I can find from netscape indicates that the files
must be .bmp files. I have tried renaming .gif files but the did not work. I
just got all the frames of the netscape animation spread across the tool
bar..

Thanks, If you here or see anything let me know

I did a little research this evening. For Netscape 4 go here:

for Netscape 3, go here:

Throbber City awaits :-)
