I have found what seems to be a fix for the error message created when
shutting down Photo Paint 8 in Windows 95. The message warns of a
shutdown/line error in sh33w32.dll
The fix appears to be to replace the file with the Windows 98 version
available at:
http://www.tcisoft.com/snbk/win98patch.html Yes, this seems a bit risky in Windows 95. However it seems to work (at
least with PP8 -- what errors may now crop up in other programs remains to
be seen).
The file was placed directly in the Windows/System folder; be sure to
save the old version in case things go haywire for you... If this creates
conflicts, it might be possible to put the new sh33w32.dll file in the
"Programs" folder of PP8. In theory the program should look here first for
DLL files so it might be possible to keep the fix for PP8 while not creating
conflicts with other files using sh33w32.dll (are there any? I know there
must be...)
Good luck to everyone having this problem.
