I'm shocked at how unstable CorelDraw 8 (version 8.0.3, the latest version
as of a couple weeks ago) is. Just printing text (I guess it's "artistic
text", not "paragraph text") too fast, or trying to move some text too fast
causes complete, irrecoverable freeze-ups, or, if I'm lucky abrupt quits
with error 12 (I think). I have an iMac running 9.0.4, with hardly any
Extensions except Apple ones. I only have 64 M of RAM, and I have CorelDraw
8 set to 20,000 K minimum 30,000 preferred, and I have Virtual Memory set to
100 MB. I wonder if CD 8 has trouble with that.

I turned off spell checking and the auto text-complete options. I do have a
lot of palettes open so I can see what they all do.

It's hard to believe that Corel allowed this version to be released, and I
can't understand why I don't see any other complaints. It's a huge pain to
have to wait 5 minutes for the iMac to reboot every time I do something
routine like trying to print some text. I got a special price on this, and
I think I see why. Has Corel abandoned Macs? Despite what looks like an
impressive range of features, this kind of serious instability makes it
almost useless.

I assume Corel Draw 10 is just for PCs (i.e., the Windows OS)?

I'd be very grateful for any help or suggestions on this. I don't even see
a free way to contact Corel directly about it.

macs.....and i think most mac users will agree with me on
this....practially REQUIRE 256 megs of ram. thankfully, ram is dirt cheap
right now.

i have a brand new imac dv se....came with 128 megs of ram....constant
memory problems.

added another 128......no problems since then. with 64 megs of ram, i
would GUARANTEE that your system is flakier than my grandmother in a prune
juice warehouse sale.
