I seem to be having a problem with opening files in Draw 8.

The fileserver is running Slackware 8.0 Linux, and is sharing files via
Samba2.2.0a.
The share is set writeable by all users, and the force user = <owner>
setting is in place.

I have two Win98 machines that run Draw 8. One of them has no problem at
all. On the other, files cannot be opened from the programme. Once a
file is chosen in the dialogue box, Draw freezes and the task monitor
must be invoked in order to end the programme.

If, however, a file is double-clicked in Windows Explorer, it will open
in Draw. This is true whether Draw is running or not. Files just can't
be opened from the Open File function.

Any ideas?

I have already tried turning down hardware acceleration. No dice. Also,
there are no message in the Samba logs.
