Photopaint crashes with UMAX scanner

From postings I've seen recently in a couple of other newsgroups, I'm
not the only one with this problem. My computer freezes up on me when
trying to scan using Photopaint 8 and my UMAX scanner. I have a UMAX
Gemini D-16 and others complain of the same thing with the UMAX
Vistascan scanner. Is there anything I can do, or must I switch to some
other software for doing my scans?

Karen, Try to download Magicscan from the UMAX site
and use it instead of Vistascan. Others here have said it works fine.
