Not to quarrel with an expert, ;)
I have the following Painter versions all installed in my WinXP Home SP1
system in the C:\Program Files folder (each in its own folder to which
the installation defaults):
Painter 5.0.3
Metacreations Painter Classic 1
Painter 6.1
procreate Painter Classic 2
Painter 7.1.357
Painter 8.1
Painter 9 Beta version
All run on my system with no more than the usual problems we experience
with Painter.
All have been Uninstalled and reinstalled without problems (unless I did
something wrong which has happened at least once even though I know how
to do it and have done it successfully many times).
To others reading this thread:
Before messing with where Painter is installed, I'd suggest contacting
Corel to find out if it could at any point cause problems.

The default installation location for Painter 8 is (already):
Corel > Corel Painter 8
For Painter 7: Painter 7
For Painter 6: Metacreations > Painter 6
For Painter 5: Painter 5.0
For Metacreations Painter Classic 1: Painter Classic
For procreate Painter Classic 2: procreate Painter Classic
Each is automatically installed in its own, unique, folder.

So you already have it!
How can I get it too (I haven't seen it on Corel's website)?
Many thanks!
To each his own. I'm personally more suspicious of programs that want to run OUTSIDE
of the Program Files folder. In any case, whether a program is in the Program Files
folder or not has nothing to do, as far as I know, with where windows looks for start
and run commands.
Regards,
Craig
You'll have to wait until it's in stores :-)

Painter 9 beta will be in the stores? Uh-oh ;).
Of course not. Painter 9 Beta is a beta product which we do not sell.
What will be in the stores is Corel Painter IX.
how about Sense Of Humor 1.0? is that still in beta too?
Ed
Notice I said "Painter 9 Beta version".
Anyone working on the Painter 9 Beta team has the Painter 9 Beta
software to test.
Painter 9 has not been released yet.

Don't be silly, we have that too. Sense of Humor 0.9 beta 4, build 157
was handed off to our QA department for testing, but the biggest
problems we are having are due to Localization. It turns out that using
SoH 0.9 varies from language to language, and QA testing has pointed out
that its usability varies from person to person.
Seriously (ha!), we simply want to avoid anyone not seeing the winky
smiley and telling themselves, their friends, whoever... that "Corel is
shipping Beta products". Which is simply not true.
Remember the saying: "It must be true, I saw it on the Internet!"...
Humor is just as variable on human systems as Painter is on computer
systems.
Isn't it?
Yes, it is!
We do pretty well, though, considering the motley crew we have on the
Beta team and around the Painter community.
Yay Team! :o)
