I have a problem with Painter in the following setup:
I am running a Mac G4/500 Mhz (with OS 10.2.2) with a Cintiq15 and a
second monitor, which I use for the palettes (dual monitor setup).
With the latest version of Painter there is an offsett problem, the
paint comes out a few inches away from the pen tip, wich makes it
impossible to paint. The only workaround is to work in OS9 or to mirror
the displays.
Wacom tells me it is a Painter problem and not a bug in the Wacom
driver, and that you are aware of this problem.
Could you please tell me if this problem will be fixed soon with an
update patch?
Thanks in advance.

The Painter 7 Update is available from the Procreate site. Here's a list
of direct URLs to all of the files in the Painter 7 Update package,
followed by instructions for Uninstalling Painter 7, reinstalling
Painter 7, then installing the Painter 7 Update. If this doesn't do the
trick, contact Procreate Painter Tech Support and ask them about a patch
that's not yet released to the public, but which another Painter user
was given that solved his problems. I don't recall what it was called.
Good luck!

PAINTER 7 UPDATE INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS:
Here's the order in which I would do the
Uninstall/Reinstall/Installation of the Painter 7 Update procedure:
1. Move any files you created to a new folder outside of the Painter 7
folders, to save them until after the Uninstall, Reinstall, and
Installation of the Painter 7 Update are completed.
2. If you're using Windows (I don't know the equivalent on Mac), use
Start > Settings > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs and Uninstall
Painter 7.
3. Manually delete any remaining Painter 7 folders and files.
4. Reboot.
5. Install Painter 7 and ***don't open it even one time***.
6. Install the Painter 7 Update.
7. Reboot.
8. Move the files you created and saved in a new folder, back to
whatever location you want or is appropriate.
9. Launch Painter and have a great time! :o)

Thank you for your help, however, the problem is still not solved.
After I have deleted the old Painter folder from my hard disk, I have
reinstalled Painter 7 from the cd. Without opening the application I
have installed the update.
However, when I check the version in the Get Info window, I still tells
it is version 7.0.317 instead of 7.1.357.
When I run the update a second time, he tells me there's no update
necessary.
In the meantime I have received from Wacom an update patch to install on
7.1.357. The patch tells it is installed succesfully but the offset
problem is not solved, and the Painter version still shows 7.0.315.
Am I doing something wrong here?
Hope you can help.

I have tried changing the setup of my monitors. Now my main monitor is
to the right (it is a Wacom Cintiq 15x), but when I put my main monitor
to the left, the offset is just on the other side.
The offset problem occurs only with the Wacom pen, not with the mouse.
But Wacom says it is not a bug in their driver.

Did you reboot after doing the Uninstall, reinstall, install Painter 7
Update procesure?
In Windows, to make sure the Painter 7 Update is completed, highlight
the Painter7.exe file, right click and choose Properties, then click the
Version tab. If it doesn't display 7.1.357 in the upper right corner,
below Other Version Information in the lower left Item Name panel, click
Product Version and in the lower right Value panel you should see
7.1.357.
I don't know what the equivalent is on Macs, but rebooting might update
the version number.
Don't know what your offset problem is about, but the Wacom tablet
should be set to Pen Mode and the tablet needs to mapped to your screen
properly. These settings are found by clicking the Wacom Tablet
Properties' Mapping/Speed tab. On the Double-Click tab I also have the
Double Click Assist box unchecked.
Good luck!
