Corel - please, please, please do something about thumbnails in version
eight. Let's have a prog that will generate thumbnails for all the .RIF's in
a folder or even the whole hard disk. My files are forever losing their
association with preview.pix files and it's a long arduous job trying to
find one among thousands, scattered throughout my hard disk. OK so I should
be more organised but isn't this program for artists? Are artists noted for
being organised?

And would it be impossible to make thumbnails that progs like Thumbs Plus
can display ? (heaven).

And IF this is too much to expect at least make the preview images held in
preview.pix work as they should. A good thirty percent of my previews
consist of just one line along the top!

And I am sorry if many of the contributors to this newsgroup think this is
small beer. To me I would much prefer to pay for an upgrade that produced
decent thumbnails, didn't crash so often and basically did well all the
things it is currently supposed to do than to have more and more exotic
brushes (most of which are barely distinguishable from each other) which are
largely unusable. I suspect that many Painter users are, like me, still
using the good old favourite brushes that have been around since version 1.

And another thing . . . oh well never mind let's not ask for too much eh?

Have to agree, Ron, and I think Corel does, too.
I have found that the simplest work around for producing a watercolory
effect is to paint with the Artist Pastel Chalk (a version 1.0 brush) and
smoosh it with Just Add Water (ditto) on layers.
I haven't downloaded the Painter 7 patch yet, but someone commented this is
indeed what the "new" tinting brushes appear to be.

Many small beers can make a very big beer ..... :-)

What about a decent print size preview just by hitting a button ?

Glad you agree. As for the old water colour brush Looking back through the
posts I found that Matt McElligot has provided a water colour brush variant
that reasonably mimics the old simple water colour brush - thanks Matt.
However one of the qualities of water colour that I love is the way it
produces a fringe. The old water colour brushes used to have a slider to
increase or decrease a simulated fringe but this doesn't appear to be
available in version 7. Maybe it does and I've missed it but if it isn't
there I wonder why not. Can anyone introduce this effect back into the water
colour brushes?

I would try but can't see how.

Just one thing Karen what makes you think Corel agrees?

I meant Corel seems to agree that a workaround for getting a watercolor-y
effect is to smoosh chalk strokes with just add water because it sounded
like that is what the tinting brushes are, adjusted chalk brushes.
I added that I hadn't downloaded the patch yet because I meant I hadn't
tested them personally.
