Hello, I'm getting an odd message attempting to open Corel 9.

First it says: "An unexpected error occured in CorelDRAW 9. Please save your
current document in another file, then quit and restart CorelDRAW9."
Second: "An attempt was made to access an unnamed file past it's end"

This error just started, had been working fine up until today.

CorelDraw 9
Windows 2000 SR2
256MB RAM
PIII 800

I'm getting that too. I just reinstalled Corel after upgrading my machine to
windows 200 Professional. Some files open fine, but most generate that error
message... Weird.

It won't even let me in Coreldraw. photopaint works fine, just not draw. I
tried uninstalling and reinstalling, same error. Also it won't let me
service pack it. Service pack thinks it's a different revision or
something...

Hmm...

might be an idea to uninstall the entire Corel Draw suite and start over -
if you are confident editing the registry, check there too. The trick with
Win 2000 is to install the service packs *after* you've set the system clock
to GMT +8 (blame the people at M$), perhaps even apply the SPs in Safe Mode.
You can reset the clock afterwards.

Cheers,

Paul

I have received what appears to be a satisfactory solution to 'Unexpected
Error', from the Corel Support Site, they suggest turning down the Hardware
Accelerator to none, they do say that this will only work on Windows 95/98,
but it appears to have worked on my PC running Windows ME

I have been having the same problems. Where do I locate the Hardware
Accelerator Settings

Thank you... It makes absolutely no sense to me why this works, but it
does...

Hi Tony,

On my Win2K system I get to it by right clicking on a blank area in the
desktop, then selecting Properties, Settings, Advanced, Troubleshooting. May
be somewhat different on other OSs, but should be similar.

The Hardware Accelerator can be altered as follows: Start/Settings/Control
Panel/System Icon/Performance Tab/Graphics Button/Hardware Accelerator
Slide to none, the division before none if you palce your Mouse Pointer on
it will tell you to select this position if you encounter 'Unexpected Error'
or other problems, I tried this before I selected this and this appeared to
solve the problem.

Hope it works for you

John
