I have versions 9 + 11 installed and all seems happy enough. I have .cdr +
..cpt files associated with version 9 so when I double-click one in Explorer
it starts up the appropriate version 9 program.....BUT.... the other day I
used the little CorelDraw toolbar icon to launch PP from Draw9 and PP
version 11 came up, not version 9 which is what I desire. I had not tried
this launch since a recent install, and was quite surprised. I'm stumped.
Any ideas?

Regards, JB

PP11 has overwritten the association to PP9 with the association to PP11 by
installing 11 over 9. The only way I know that will really work is to
reinstall PP9. I don't know if you can change the association from PP11 to
PP9, but it's worth a try. (Starting in Windows, open any folder to find the
association changing routine under Tools | Folder Options | File Types |
(Select "cpt") | Change. Select the program you wish to associate with cpt
extensions and confirm out of the dialog box.

If you put your CD9 back into the CD drive and click on "repair" from the
install window, then V9 will again be "on top" and the links will work for
V9.

Whatever version you LAST did a repair or service pak install (or complete
install) is the version at the top of the tree insofar as the toolbar links
are concerned.

That sounds like you hit it on the head. I'll give it a shot tomorrow and
post back results. Thanks, JB

This should work Ted. I just checked on my laptop, where v9 was installed
'after' v11 and the toolbar launch icon does indeed launch v9 PP ...
confirming your fix. I am wondering now if I will need to run the service
packs again now that I have chosen 'refresh' from the Corel install CD? I
thought I may have now undone some fixed files from the service packs...no?
Just checking ... I'll wait a bit.

cheers, JB

Confirmed.... that corrected the toolbar launch icon.

And, no, I don't think I need to run the service packs as it says it's still
version 439.

Thanks for the help! JB

Glad it's working.
You are like me as I too have several versions installed. You really have to
watch out for that "tree" so that your favourite version is always on top.
