With my webpages, I want to use the linear fountain fill (two colour)
in Corel Draw as a background.

However, if the height of the background is 1200 pixels, there is
noticeable striping on the webpage. If I reduce the height to < 900
(apprx), then all is fine.

Any ideas on what I need to do to eliminate striping AND have a height
of 1200 pixels.
I assume I need to modify the number of steps? Is this correct and what
should I set it to as it seems to have little or no effect?

Should I save as GIF or JPEG?
What dithering is recommended?
Anti-aliasing?
Smoothing?
