What ever happened to SP2? I haven't been on the forums in a while so I
apologize if this has been talked about recently.

Have to say...

though i use Illustrator at work I much prefer Corel.... though it does have
more problems....so where is the service pack.....I'm certainly not going to
buy CD12 (The new business version!!)....

I wonder if they are holding SP2 back so more people will get tired of
waiting and buy 12?

Possibly...but I would buy Ilustrator CS than 12 if no SP2 for 11...

SP2 should be here. Don't beleive there is anything untoward happening
in relation when released, just remember it might also be caught up in
red tape, corporate procedures, company take overs, redundencies, lack
of resources.

Of course, might also be taking much longer to nail down and fix the
problem for the reason it was withdrawn after being issued in the
first place.

Not to consider 12 just based on the fact SP2 is late seems plain daft
IMHO, especially as V11 is usable and reliable. Just my take and
experience.

Some of us waiting for SP2 don't have the option to go to v12 at the
present time.
That's the whole point...

Your optimism and lack of cynicism is refreshing! I, too, will not purchase
12 before I get what I paid for on 11. The only thing that shouldn't be
believed is that anything other than money will motivate these companies.

or, and here's some novel thinking, why not release a new version only WHEN
IT'S FINISHED!?
Maybe then we could do without the nuisance of waiting for and installing
service packs!

IMHO, tossing money to a company with a demonstrated history of not
fixing serious bugs is daft. I use PP more than Draw, and it has some
fatal bugs (for my use) that have been well documented since 11's
release.

Hi All,
I really am hesitate about purchasing V12. I have this sinking feeling that
Corel no longer wants to correct bugs and other problems with a service
pack --- they'll just issue a new version --- and we can pay for the
corrections. I'll be darn if I'll keep buying new versions that are
really fixes for the previous version. Version 9 had two SP's. Version 11
has one weak SP......
If I remember correctly Microsoft tried this game when they issued Windows
Millennium. It was just a glorified Windows 98.
My biggest issues are with PP and I don't have high hopes that anything will
be corrected with V12. So I'll keep using V11 and read the newsgroup posts.
Regards,
Sandy (Paleo)

It will/would not ever be finished. Some will always find it will be
unstable regardless.

Just because a new version comes out does not mean one has to go out
and get it straightaway.

Here's a thought if Corel had a reputation of only releasing solid software
instead of releasing so - so stuff that had late arriving SPs which only
half fixed problems then perhaps more would be inclined to get a new version
straight away. So far never did fix V10 properly - V11 still half cocked for
many, what chance V12 any good out of the box, I wouldn't bet the farm.
Great shame Draw could be the greatest.

Corel's prices have always been lower than Adobe's or Macromedia's. Corel tech support policies have always been more generous than the competition. Corel will refund the purchase price (including shipping) for any of their products, even if purchased from a third party. Try that with the others

You obviously haven't had to deal much with Adobe and Macromedia and their outrageously priced products: $600 for Photoshop vs. half that for the Corel Graphics Suite. Adobe seems to specialize in sticking it in users' faces. For example, they dumped ImageStyler after one release and refused to provide an upgrade path for users, who were hung out to dry.

If you're that unhappy with Corel, why not switch to Illustrator or Freehand? You're likely to hate those companies even more. Taking a swipe at Corel at this stage of the game is like kicking a man when he's down.

What is SP2 supposed to fix?
I have been a loyal Corel user since version 3. (dating myself I suppose.) in the years of working with the software, I have found the most difficult problem is external - ie: getting 3rd party drivers to work, explaining corel tools to new users.
Corel 11 IMHO, is one of the most powerful programs I have ever worked with. The few times it has crashed were not a problem as I tend to save every little while (which was a habit introduced to me because of Microsoft, not Corel.) Maybe I'm lucky, maybe I just don't push my system as hard as some of you others, but I really believe Corel has the most to offer at the price they have offered it.

I think you're missing the fact, Tim, that v12 will only run on Win2K or
WinXP. For those remaining on Win98, WinME (eeekkk!!), Win95 or earlier
versions of NT, sticking with v11 with a new SP is their only option.
Bran

(and before anyone chimes in: yes of course, they could also go backwards
to earlier versions of CD. v9 remains pretty popular, I understand.)
