I've had Bryce 5 for a while, but haven't worked with it ever since we got a
new computer.
I recently re-installed it but it keeps crashing out once it gets passed the
splash screen.

I have tried this on both Win XP and Win 98 (got two partitions) and both
give the same results, so I am thinking it has to do with my hardware.
The computer I'm trying to run this on has an MSI K7N2G motherboard (Nforce2
chipset, incorporated graphics card), AMD 2500XP processor.

Has anyone else run into these kinds of problems? And what is the solution?

Thanks!

Patrick

ScarabWeb,
I had that problem too. I fixed it under both Win98 and WinXP by
deleting the "preferences" file. It should simply read as "Bryce5 Prefs"
and should be around 16KB. That got me up and running with no more
problems. You will however have to make some new preferences though. Not
a problem at all if you don't do a lot of custom things. Also, for me it
started to do this when I tried to use the spree or OpenGL and close
then re-open the progam, it would crash. So leave it in the default
wireframe when you want to close the program. Hope this helps.

Try downloading the lastest patch form www.corel.com
If that doesn't work you can contact tech support from the new owners of
Bryce at www.daz3d.com (FYI - Daz doesn't carry the latest update patch on
their site)
