Does anybody have any clues as to what is going on? I would really like
to set up a mini render farm someday to put together some artwork...and
this is one hell of a stumbling block.
Thanks for your help in advance...

I had the same problem until I upgraded both Bryce and Lightning to
5.0.1. Now I have four machines happily cranking out pixels.
Two of the four machines in my network are wireless (11Mb/s). I found
that using tiling actually was slower than letting Bryce parcel out
whole frames to each machine because of network performance. If your
machines are hard-wired tiling is probably the way to go, especially if
they run at different speeds are are loaded by other apps.

I found tiling even on a 100Mb/s network was slower than doling out
frames. Substantially slower and the networking overheads become more
significant the better the machines.
