Hi: 

We have urgent requirement for Web Applications Developer for our Client.

Position:  Developer 2

            Location:  Austin, TX

            Start Date:   December 12th , 2007

            Duration:  9 months (Total estimated Worker hours shall not exceed 1280 hours)

            Rate:  $55

 

I.          DESCRIPTION OF SERVICES

Our Client requires the services of one Web Applications Developer, hereafter referred to as Worker, who meets the general qualification of the specifications outlined in this document.

               

The selected worker will assist the Client, in developing GIS and Web-based mapping applications with ASP.net.  The developer will work with Microsoft Virtual Earth, Google Maps and open source tools, using agile software development methods, to develop a state-of-the-art online mapping viewer that supports spatial queries and the display of state geographical data.  The developer will work under the guidance of the TNRIS senior developer. Tasks include: developing and scheduling projects; coordinating with other development team members – both technical and non-technical, analyzing proposed web-based applications; developing user documentation and online help systems for applications; providing technical assistance to staff and customers as required; training others in the use of internal applications; and maintaining and documenting existing code.  Programmer will need to file weekly reports on work progress for the week.  TWDB may include pre-selection requirements that potential Vendors (and their Workers) submit to and satisfy criminal background checks as authorized by the Texas law. 

The duties of the Worker will include, but are not limited to performing the tasks listed below: 

  A.      Work as a part of a team to develop conceptual, logical and physical designs for all web related applications.

B.      Identify new user interface and functional concepts for potential use in our web-based applications 

C.      Produce detailed technical documentation and give solution briefings to management and development   team.

D.      Follow established software development processes through the use of source code revision control, test driven development, continuous integration, and rapid release cycles.

E.      Use issue tracking and project management systems to document lessons learned.

F.      Assess system performance, throughput, and reliability to optimize the user experience

G.     Synthesize changing business requirements and determine impact to application architecture and schedule

H.      Review, test and revise existing programs and applications as required.

I.         Monitor web applications to track site usage, downloads, etc and create monthly reports to management staff.

J.       Regularly advise manager on status of development projects, and of new development technologies and their impact on current development efforts.

             K.  Other duties as assigned.

II.                  WORKER SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

Extensive experience with ASP.net, Java-script, AJAX, and HTTP-based applications.

Analysis and/or development experience in the full range of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), which includes application design, coding, testing, application deployment.

Experience with evaluating and resolving complex business and technical problems across multiple disciplines.

Knowledge of MS SQL server 2000 and 2005. Required skills includes understanding XML, database structures, designs, the development of complex stored procedures, packages, views, and queries.

Experience with Microsoft Visual Studio .Net 2003/2005.

Experience using revision control (Subversion), issue tracking systems (Trac), and continuous integration (CruiseControl.net ) or similar systems.

Experience with agile methodologies or equivalent software practices.

 

 

            Preferences:

Solid understanding of performance analysis and software optimization of database-driven web applications.

Working understanding of Geographic Information Systems (GIS); ESRI experience is a plus.

Working knowledge of the Google Maps or Virtual Earth API

Knowledge of industry best practices and standards

 

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with peers, users, technical staff and management

 

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience.

 

IV.        WORK HOURS AND LOCATION

A.       Services shall be provided during normal business hours unless otherwise coordinated through the Client.  Normal business hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM through 5:00 PM, excluding State holidays when the agency is closed.

B.       The Worker may be required to work outside the normal business hours on weekends, evenings and holidays, as requested.  Payment for work over 40 hours will be at the hourly rate quoted and must be coordinated and pre-approved through the Client.
