Dear Colleagues,

as you know, the DC on Core Internet Values received a slot in the agenda of the forthcoming IGF 2025 in  Lillestrøm, Norway - on Day 2: Wednesday 25 June 2025, 14:15 to 15:30 UTC+2.

IGF 2025 WS #187 Bridging Internet & AI Governance: From Theory to Practice

Just like our successful workshop in Riyadh last year, this will be a joint session of the DC Core Internet Values and the DC Network Neutrality. Since the workshop was announced, I have been working with the Chair of the DC NN Luca Belli as well as Pari Esfandiari, to coordinate the time slot which was good for all of the speakers in the proposal and to refine our agenda. We were also approached by a number of other speakers who wanted to take part in the workshop and thus had three "community commenters" added to the line-up. It was suggested to other additional speakers that they take part in the session speaking from the floor when it was opened.

The complete session agenda and flow are updated on its official page:
https://intgovforum.org/en/content/igf-2025-ws-187-bridging-internet-ai-governance-from-theory-to-practice

Briefly, the agenda will be:

Agenda:
  1.     Introduction (8 minutes)
  2.     Panellist interventions (20 minutes)
  3.     Invited community members (15 minutes)
  4.     Open discussion (25 minutes)
  5.     Conclusions (7 minutes)
In the panellist interventions, panellists will be asked two questions:

A.  Expanding the concept to Openness and Transparency to AI

  • How can the Internet’s foundational principles of openness and decentralization guide transparent and accountable AI governance—particularly as generative AI becomes a main gateway to content?

B.  Extending the concept fundamental pillars of Net Neutrality to AI:

  • How can fundamental network neutrality principles such as generativity and competition on a level playing field apply to AI infrastructure, AI models and content creation?

We hope to see many of you both in the room and online.

Kindest regards,

Olivier MJ Crépin-Leblond
DC Core Internet Values Chair

That gives a 15 min break before the Marconi Society session starts, so good!
