Dear Colleagues,

I confirm that the DC CIV report for 2024 has been submitted to the IGF for publication.
I would like to thank everyone who has contributed to the drafting of this report and look forward to work with all of you in 2025.

There are two next steps:

1. We are co-organising a session at ICANN 82, next week. Speakers are being finalised and we'll provide further details shortly.

2. A small group is also working on making a workshop proposal for IGF 2025. As slots are going to be very restricted (the total number of sessions is going to be cut down dramatically), we are again going to propose the workshop in collaboration with the DC-NN, as a follow-up to our 2024 DC session: https://intgovforum.org/en/content/igf-2024-dc-civ-dc-nn-from-internet-openness-to-ai-openness#edit-group-report
The deadline to submit workshops proposals is 12 March 2025, thus time is of the essence.
We'll provide details here also shortly.

The Dynamic Coalition on Core Internet Values (DC-CIV) is co-organizing a session at the upcoming ICANN 82 Community Forum, taking place from March 8–13, 2025, in Seattle, Washington.

Session Details:

• Title: Core Internet Values: Evolution & Challenges for ICANN

• Date & Time: Wednesday March 12, 2025 10:30 - 12:00 PDT - Regency A (At-Large)

Session Overview:

The concept of core Internet values has been a cornerstone of the Internet’s architecture. However, with seismic shifts in technology, governance models, and geopolitical dynamics, these values require adjustment to remain relevant in today’s rapidly evolving environment.
This session will examine how such adjustments could affect ICANN’s remit and mission. It will explore the balance between preserving foundational principles and adapting to emerging realities, leveraging insights from technological, governance, and geopolitical trends, alongside ICANN’s operational experience. The discussion will identify necessary changes, their implications for ICANN, and strategies to address these challenges while upholding its core purpose.
