Hi everyone,

In the meeting today, we talked about having our first public CoreDash Community Meeting on September 2nd (7am Pacific, 15:00 UK) with the following proposed agenda:
- Intro to CoreDash (Chris A.) - 10 min
- Adopter / end user role (Alexis) - 15 min
- Contributing to Perses (Augustin) 15 min
- New projects are welcome (Chris A.) 10 min
- Q&A 10 min

Augustin confirmed that he could present during the meeting today. Chris / Alexis - are you both available and willing to present at this first meeting?

We also talked about what should we have in the GH org before we open up: https://github.com/coredashio. We're thinking that we need a community repo with README, meetings info, governance, LF code of conduct, etc. I'll work with Chris to get this kicked off and then we can submit PRs to work on the repo to get everything ready for the Sept 2 meeting.

Cheers,
Dawn

Naming is hard :)

I think we can make it really clear in the README that this is only a working name to get us started and that we expect it to be renamed at some point after the project starts to mature and we see the direction that the project takes. At that point, we’ll probably have better ideas for a name.

The reality is that we have the namespace for CoreDash now, and it’s been approved by LF and gone through the legal reviews. If we wanted to change the name before we open it up, this is likely to delay opening it up and getting started, possibly by months. I think we’re better off getting started, and thinking about new names as we progress.

Just my 2 cents as someone who doesn’t speak for the LF.

Cheers,
Dawn

Yeah it's just a name for this working group.

It has nothing related to the final product whatever it means.

Besides when this name came up during the first meeting, nobody had a better idea to name this initiative / working group.

Hi all,

As I mentioned in yesterday's meeting, I won't be able to make Sep 2, but the plan sounds good. As the agenda proposal outlines, the public announcement should for now mainly focus on the overall CoreDash effort, the openness + possibility of multiple projects, etc., although it's also cool if there's already something to say about Perses as well.

IMO the name of the umbrella initiative is fine for now, but we should really clarify to the public that this is just the umbrella / initial group code name. I don't think any concrete final project wants to adopt it :)

Cheers,
Julius

Hi everyone,

Please have a look at this PR and provide feedback: https://github.com/coredashio/community/pull/1

I drew heavily from the various docs that we’ve been using and combined them into the readme and governance docs along with a few other relevant docs and the standard code of conduct used by most other LF projects. I also tried to make it very clear that CoreDash is a working name / code name 😊

Please leave comments on the PR where we can iterate on the feedback and make sure that we’re in good shape with the repo before the public meeting on the 2nd.

I also encourage you to open issues for project questions that we haven’t addressed yet so that we can kick off additional discussions!

Thanks to Amye and Chris for creating docs, getting a zoom link, and setting up the repo!

Cheers,
Dawn
