LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMS
We conducted two leadership development programs for Vana, Dehradun in this quarter, with their team to derive deeper purpose behind their work and build a stronger sense of community among themselves. Alongside, the focus was also on a handful of skills such as time management, conflict resolution, public speaking, teamwork, being proactive etc. The essential component of the program was putting the individual at the core and creating a space for sharing of her/his struggles, triumphs, aspirations, and needs. The participants showed keenness in taking some of these approaches back to their teams and build a similar culture, where the values of empathy, listening and acceptance are nurtured. Know more...

ALUMNI RESIDENTIAL AND SAMVAAD
In its 3rd year, Alumni Residential and Samvaad were held from 23rd - 25th Feb facilitated by Ward Mailliard and Ravi Gulati with an intention to encourage the practice of dialogue and listening with curiosity. Through this year's theme "Learning that Liberates" we explored the meaning of learning in our own lives. Examining the questions opens the possibility of a vulnerable dialogue. The 2 days brought in a lot of perspective and possibility to expand and understand ideas of learning and liberation. The evenings and mornings of Alumni Residential brought in the belief of community through sharing in not just words but many more expressions of love, seva, commitment and fun while connecting with each other.

KERUNYU KI: HOUSE OF LISTENING
On February 10th, 36 people (between 18 - 50+) came together to be part of Youth Alliance's 'Kerünyü Ki- House of Listening', a gathering for youth and parents.
The room was filled with people who had a deep desire and an urgent need to understand and to be understood in their relationship with their parents, children or a dear one with whom they want to have an authentic relationship. While some chose to speak up things on their heart and mind, some participated through their listening.

Some of us from Youth Alliance community embarked upon a walking Pilgrimage to Prashar Lake, Himachal Pradesh from 23rd - 25th March. The beautiful troupe aimlessly set out from a serene village in Mandi called Teel on this Padh Yatra. The infinitely astounding landscape served as a teacher in whose presence people explored their vulnerabilities. They approached the road with a mindset of presence rather than productivity.

Those attracted to Youth Alliance continue to amaze me. I think more than any other group I have seen, they carry the spirit of Gandhi Ji. Through some mysterious alchemy of nature and experience, they realize that life is more than just obedience to repeating patterns of security and comfort. Instead, it appears to me that they are answering the challenging call to service and are inspired to address the needs of the community at all levels. Meeting people who have raised their own awareness in response to their inner yearnings for meaning gives me hope.

Young people are awesome. Their hopes high. Their stories delightful, fresh from the smell of their dreams. Each thoughtful, each vulnerable, each compassionate. Owning their weaknesses, while letting others own theirs. And I thought this didn’t just happen on its own. So many wonderful people under one roof. Youth Alliance has worked silently over the years making it possible. Holding the youth together in a group collectively aspiring towards compassion.

Parvesh Sharma
Team Vana
The program by Youth Alliance is one where learning is not enforced rather comes in the form of self-realization. They encourage finding solutions with-in ourself and sharing them in the circle of trust. It is not a philosophical but an experiential learning journey.
