Hey !

Quick note, I'm in Texas for work. Just met with one of founders of 5604 (Bob Jensen) - going to visit the space and talk to other folks.

Any particular questions you all usually ask for MSP purposes? Learned a little about history and fundraising strategy (the abridged version). Anything else?

That building sounds awesome!  Wish I could see it too!

Some questions I have: how do they coordinate activating the space across the 3 main organizations housed there?  Is it also a regular communal destination in addition to office/meeting space?  Are there economic enterprises running out of the space that generate income to help pay the bills?  Are there other organizing/community centers that they look to for inspiration?  What are there biggest challenges?  How is the building staffed?

We can post something about the place and/or your visit on the MSP FB page later if you like.

Also: Which communities (organizing or otherwise) tend to gather most at the space? Are most people who come already involved in social justice work? Are there easy ways for newcomers to plug into projects? Does the space attract people across the progressive-to-radical spectrum, or is it mainly for progressive organizers? Is there any interest in building relationships with the Austin anarchist community? If so, what does that look like?

Thanks ya'll! I dropped in earlier and most of staff were out and only newbie volunteers were there. Going to try going to a meeting there tomorrow. Hopefully, can get some more of your great questions answered.
