FYI... Also The Commons is looking to find tenants to rent in the building over the next month... or Melissa says she might have to sell it.

Hi Lucas,
At the last Muste Institute board meeting, the board voted unanimously
to move forward with a capital campaign to renovate 339 Lafayette St.
We are now urgently seeking people with time, energy and skills to help
us move this project forward.
Attached are some draft documents for use in explaining the renovation
project and recruiting people for the project team. The documents are
not yet finalized or public, but OK to circulate to core individuals as
working documents. (We should have revised versions ready in a week or
so, though the income plan will continue to evolve beyond that.)
We'd like to talk with you and/or whoever else you think should be
involved about how to connect our process with the Movement Space
Project. It was my impression that MSP would likely end up not with one
single space but with various interlocking strategies to use and expand
different kinds of space for the movement in NYC. Could 339 Lafayette be
one of several spaces that MSP gets involved in?
There is no "status quo" scenario for our building--we are going to have
to rethink everything about our sheltering program, and the way we use
our space, in order to make this project work. That means we need--and
the board and staff are open to--new energy, ideas and skills. We expect
to be hiring staff in the coming months, but we need volunteers
immediately to help plan and direct the project.
Are there people involved in MSP who you think would be particularly
suited to collaborating on this project? Or is there a way to connect
the two processes on a collective level?
Let me know when is a good time to meet to discuss this further. Thanks!
Best,
Jane
