Sathya from Rainmatter Foundation has been building some great data stories:
On human-wildlife conflicts:
https://the-uncounted.surge.sh/. Snake bites in paddy fields cause 100x more deaths than elephants and tigers. Areas with higher conflicts are where forests are fragmented than where animal populations are higher. Most elephant deaths are because of electrocution.
On FPOs:
https://fpo-story.surge.sh/. Wide disparity in capitalization and good management. Data can help guide which ones are fundable.
On SHGs:
https://shg-story.surge.sh/. A huge success story, but completely de-linked from FPOs. SHGs have the capability to convert raw produce to value added products, youth have the capability to brand and market, and these are the missing links that prevent local economies from becoming stronger, leaving the only option for FPOs to become suppliers to the urban and for communities to buy it back. I'm sure we'll soon see a story on balance of payments of villages and how easily reversible that situation is.
On forest rights:
https://whose-forest.surge.sh/. Where rights were given and markets were accessible, communities were able to reverse distress migration and amplify incomes.
