For Hard Rock Aquifers, is "Egg-Carton Aquifers" a Good Analogy?

Vivek's article and the point to think of hard rock aquifers not as egg cartons with isolated compartments but as low-storage [slow-flowing] dendritic [underground rivers], which can even have underground dams of impervious rock blocking them and leading them to create baseflow in surface flowing rivers. Pretty cool!
