While Alphaearth and other embedding products like TESSERA excel at helping with LULC like tasks, Betaearth reverse engineers these embeddings by helping build spatially/temporally local models that emulate them. This means that the models can be fine-tuned as well, which is not possible or very hard to do with the raw embeddings. I think this could be most useful for change detection.
