Hi Corde Terra Villa Members,

I received mail from San Jose Water Company stating that the backflow test failed.

Questions:
1. Did any of you receive this type of email from San Jose Water Company?
I am concerned that this letter could be a scam.
2. Are we obligated to fix this problem?
Should ROEM be responsible to fix this problem?
3. Did any of you fix this problem?
Which company did you hire?  And how much?

NOTE: The problem/failure should be corrected no later than April 5, 2013, according to San Jose Water Company.

I got one as well. I have a plumber coming by today to quote on repair. I will pass that information as soon as I get it.

I investigated this matter and found that the San Jose Water Backflow Tester made mistakes in the testing procedure and the failure notices were sent out in error. You will soon receive a letter of retraction and apology from San Jose Water

Hi Mel,

Thank you for looking into this.

Do you have the contact info to the person you talked to. I would like to call them and find out about repairing my back flow. It has never leaked but has been since the test was performed. If it was tested wrong then it's a possibility they could of damaged it and they should repair or replace it.

FYI, today (03/11/13) around 11:00 AM I saw a guy from San Jose Water Company testing the backflow pressure.  So, I decided to talk to the guy (his name is Frank) and mentioned to him that my backflow device failed the test.  Then Frank asked his colleague to retest my backflow device and the backflow device passed the test.

Frank then called his company to inform that my backflow device is OK and he took my letter.

Apparently, the person who tested my backflow device the first time might have a bad meter.  Bottom line, those who received a letter that says the backflow device test failed, the San Jose Water Company will retest the backflow device.

The person who tested all our HOA backflow units was Mark Juarez (408) 279-7872.

Hi All,

This is Nguyen from 2751 Corde Terra. I received same letter from SJ Water Company in March and again April, 2014. Should I call SJ Water and have them to do the retest? Did anyone get this letter back in March of 2014 ?
Also, if you have information of the party who does the repair,  please send it.

I believe the person from San Jose Water Company who did the testing may have been terminated. I am recommending a plumbing company that I personally can vouch for which is Jamie McCabe Plumbing. Jamie McCabe is willing to service our HOA 24/7 and is an expert with all plumbing/piping issues including backflow repairs/replacement. When contacting Jamie (wife Karen) just mention my name.

Thanks Mel. I'm going to call SJ Water for them to come out to redo the test. Just want to confirm if the previous guy performed proper work.
