Job Description:
Reporting to the Director of the Library, the Electronic Resources & Systems Librarian is a responsible for electronic resource acquisition and access as well as providing maintenance and support for library systems. The selected candidate will provide the
best possible user experience for the OLLU community as they seek, discover, and access information.
Essential Functions:
Manages electronic resource acquisitions and maintenance (including databases, electronic journal subscriptions, eBooks, and streaming film).
Negotiates license agreements and contract renewals with both internal and external constituents.
Troubleshoots and resolves complex connectivity issues: authentication, database and e-journal changes, subscription platform changes, network, and IP issues, etc.
Compiles, analyzes, and reports e-resource usage statistics in support of collection development decision-making and library assessment activities.
Promotes awareness and use of electronic resources.
Act as a system administrator for library systems and platforms
Works with OLLU ITS, and vendor technical support to provide basic system support and for library platforms and servers such as EZProxy, Worldshare Management (WMS), SpringShare (library website).
Creates tutorials and other digital content to aid students in use of library technology and resources.
Manages the library's eReserves Platform.
Additional Responsibilities:
Serves on university and library committees as appropriate and fulfill faculty service requirements.
Pursues personal professional development; contributes to the profession through scholarship and service to library organizations.
Act as a collection development selector for assigned subject areas.
Provide reference and instruction support to OLLU student as needed.
Some evening and occasional weekend hours required.
Performs all other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of library electronic resource management, preferably in an academic context.
Knowledge of integrated library systems, EZproxy, authentication protocols, and content management systems.
Effective interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills with an ability to work with a diverse group of people.
Ability to adhere to deadlines.
Ability to effectively manage resources.
Knowledge of emerging trends and practices with library technology and metadata.
Must be able to respect, support, and contribute to the University's and Library's mission and strategic plan.
Ability and commitment to serve a diverse, multicultural student body in a student-centered setting.
Education and Experience:
Master's Degree from an American Library Association accredited program.
Experience working in academic library especially in acquisitions, serials control, electronic resources management, electronic resources troubleshooting, and/or license preparation.
Preferred Qualifications:
Second master's degree or advanced degree.
Experience managing electronic resources.
Familiarity with one or more scripting languages (Python, JavaScript), markup languages (HTML, CSS).
Experience with administering an integrated library system, preferably WorldShare Management Services.
Experience with the Springshare platform.
Experience in reference and instruction.
