The Earth’s Geomagnetic Field: A Long and Winding Path of Discovery, Innovation, Reversals, and Serendipity
Join us for a fascinating talk that traces the complexity of Earth’s geomagnetic field – from early theories to modern discoveries. Presented by John Stamatakos, SwRI Institute Scientist, this presentation will explore the scientific progress in our understanding of Earth including surprising breakthroughs and magnetic field reversals. A selection of rare books from the SwRI Library collection will be on display, offering a glimpse into the foundational works that shaped our understanding of geophysics. Lunch will be provided. For questions, please contact Valerie Darling.
