The University of the Incarnate Word (UIW) in San Antonio, Texas welcomes applicants for the Health Sciences Liaison Librarian position.

The Health Sciences Liaison Librarian will provide the full range of co-curricular teaching and learning support, reference and research consultation, and work collaboratively with faculty and students in support of health sciences education and research and in the development of specific medical informatics and health sciences information meta-literacies. Position provides instructional assistance to members of the academic community, including students, faculty, and administrators in physical therapy, occupational therapy, athletic training, nursing and other health sciences disciplines. The Health Sciences Liaison Librarian reports to the Director of Public Services.

Required Qualifications

  • MLS/MLIS or equivalent from an ALA-accredited institution.
  • Two (2) years of experience providing teaching, learning, and research support in health sciences information literacy and medical informatics.
  • Two (2) years of experience teaching evidence-based medicine information literacy concepts.

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Three (3) years of relevant experience in an academic / health sciences library providing teaching, learning, and research co-curricular support.
  • Familiarity with Alma (ExLibris) public access catalog and the Primo discovery tool, MS Office products, spreadsheets, online learning platforms, and LibGuides.
  • Certification from the Academy of Health Information Professionals.
  • Undergraduate degree in a health sciences related field.
