Got any questions or problems with your CoralNet user account - activation, logging in, etc.? You can post your question here.

If you ask account questions in a separate topic, that's fine too. But I thought I'd provide this topic just in case making a new topic feels a little intimidating for newcomers.

Hi, I tried to register but haven't received the activation email. I tried resending it several times.

Hi Ana,

I think it might be because of an email address typo. I'll follow up in a private email.

Hi. I have had an account for several years now and am admin on 5 different sources and work on CoralNet ~once a week. However a colleague is trying to invite me to a new source and when she enters my username or my email it says that there is no account.  My account is not with my gmail email but my yahoo just as a heads up since this post is posted with my gmail.

Hi Kristina,

When inviting you, your colleague should enter your username (not email address), and note that usernames are case sensitive.

If it still doesn't work, could you ask her to post here (or email me) to confirm the source name she wants to invite you to?

Hi Stephen,

I am not able to activate my account. When I click on the activation link in the email from CoralNet, I get taken to a screen which says:

Sorry, we couldn't activate your account. Try double checking that you used the entire activation link in the email you received. Some email readers may have problems detecting links with colons in them. If you think your activation link might have expired, we can send you another activation email

Do you have any advice?

Hi Myles,

I think you're seeing that message because your account is already activated. Try signing in and see if that works.

It's possible that you wouldn't see the "you've been activated" message if you double-clicked the activation link by accident, for example.

Hope that helps,
Stephen

This isn't really a user-account question, but try double-checking if your TV can connect to other websites besides CoralNet.

Hi Candice,

It looks like your account is currently activated, if I'm not mistaken. Did you end up getting the email? Let me know if you still need any help there.

Hi Ane,

I just checked and it looks like your account (if I'm looking at the correct one) is currently activated. Let me know if you still need help with this.

Relevant update here: the "already activated" situation should be less confusing now. When you click the activation link, now the page should actually say if you're already activated, as opposed to saying that activation failed.

Also, I learned that some email client programs will automatically visit links in received emails, as a security check. I would guess that this is the most common cause of the "already activated" situation (more common than accidentally clicking the link twice!).

Hi,

I have done the registration, however, did not receive any activation email despite trying multiple times.
It's not under this email I'm writing.

Appreciate if you can reply privately so that I can share the email and username to you for checking.

Thank you!
Jason

Hi,

I did not receive the activation e-mail, but when I tried to register again, it says there is already an account with the same username... How should I proceed? The e-mail account I registered with is not the same as this one.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Sara,

So, looking at various recent account registrations, I'm now noticing that certain email providers have consistently been having problems getting our activation emails, for roughly the past 4-5 months. I'll investigate the root cause and follow up here for everyone's benefit.

For your case specifically - would you like to use the same username as your previous registration attempt? If so, I can delete the previous registration so that you can re-register with the same username but different email address. To confirm, let me know what the username is (either here or in a private email).

Hi Stephen,

Thank you for your update. Indeed I would like to keep the same username as in my registration attempt. For some reason I was not able to reply to you privately. Could you send me a private email so I can reply with my username, please?

Thanks in advance.

Okay. Sara, I should have just sent a private reply.
