Do you think the Copyright Act works in today's world? Want to fix it
or figure out new ways to think about copyright? Or maybe you DO think
everything about the Act is 100% perfect.
Join us as we begin a crowdsourcing project to Hack the Act. Starting
with Section 109, we will look at what is interesting, problematic or
outdated about the current Act: and using the online platform Docracy,
make our own. Each hacker can make a version using the original Act
or a version created by someone else.
The BLIP (Brooklyn Law Incubator & Policy) Clinic will be on hand to
explain Section 109, first-sale doctrine and its implications on
policy. If you can't come to CopyNight, you can hackalong at

CopyNight is a monthly social gathering of people interested in
restoring balance in copyright law. We meet over drinks once a month
in many cities to discuss new developments and build social ties
between artists, engineers, filmmakers, academics, lawyers, and many
others.
We meet on the fourth Tuesday of the month at Vig Bar, 12 Spring
Street. The next CopyNight is on May 22 from 7-9PM.
