Hello everyone,

I am new to CoprHd community. However after studying the concepts of Software Defined Storage, I want to contribute code (very excited!!!) in one of the following areas. Kindly suggest whether I can pursue development in the following areas and  some developer is pursuing it or not. If possible, kindly correct me if my understanding is incorrect in the following.

The ideas are( priority-wise)-

1. Support for Deduplication in CoprHd (or some form of efficient software related backup and archiving)

2. CoprHd integration with CloudStack or Docker or Mesos or Kubernetes ( kindly suggest one out of these)

3. Is thin provisioning supported and if I can work on it!

4. Also wanted to know that for data migration, is it necessary to have EMC VPLEX or some software solution can be developed into coprHd eliminating the use of such special hardware.

Your help will be greatly appreciated and will provide me the direction to work in coprHd.

Thanks and regards,
Ayush Gupta

Hi Ayush,
Welcome to CoprHD - we are very glad to have you.
We already have some work going on in a couple of these areas:

3. Thin provisioning is supported on all EMC arrays that support it and also via our Device Driver Interface (see https://coprhd.atlassian.net/wiki/pages/viewpage.action?pageId=13598839 and search SDK in wiki)
4. We have a team from Intel currently working on migration based on generic Linux hardware (see https://coprhd.atlassian.net/wiki/display/COP/Expand+CoprHD+Volume+Migration+Support).
You may wish to leave a comment on the wiki pages asking for clarification or more information, or contact the author of the pages.
Please also feel free to join our Weekly HipChat meeting on Wednesdays at 9 AM CST. This meeting is open to all Coprhd members, and is a kind of general status/update/announcement meeting.
Please feel free to introduce yourself there.
Best regards,
Tom Watson
