Subject: Next on Copper Robot: Mark Twain
To: copper...@googlegroups.com
Join us Wednesday at 6 pm Second Life/Pacific time to celebrate the
life and work of Mark Twain, a week before the centenary of his death.
He's a figure famous around the world as a jolly old man with a halo
of white hair, bushy mustache, and white suit. But like a lot of
famous people from history, people don't really know Mark Twain.
Twain wasn't just a cuddly old guy with an impish sense of humor. His
humor was cutting and powerful, often directed against religious
hypocrisy and American imperialism. More than a century after his
death, his satire still seem contemporary--often unfortunately so.
We'll spend an hour talking about Mark Twain and why he's still
relevant today, with two experts on the man and his work.
WHEN: Wednesday, April 14, 6 pm Pacific/Second Life Time
WHERE: The Copper Robot Theater, World2Worlds Island in Second Life,
or watch the live video on the Web, or listen to the podcast
afterward.
