Are you reliable data recovery service? I have a failed Aspire hard drive
I think the drive from my Acer laptop has a stuck spindle problem. The drive doesn't spin. I hear this siren type noise for few seconds once I power up the drive then the noise stops. I have put the drive in the freezer and then power up but still nothing happens. I need everything that is on the hard drive. Regular turnaround time is fine for me, I'm not in rush, but high quality for the files (if recovered) is a must per say.
The result is acceptable and perfectly adequate for my needs. Hacienda Heights, California USA
Travelstar 5K1000-1000 GB Problem:
This failed hard drive was working in from Acer PC laptop. The drive was working fine last night and when I turned on my system this morning, it couldn't be detected. I have swapped data and power cable and even switched to another system. The hard drive has never been opened since purchased. Everything there is in original form. Request to recover important folders: Project, Portfolio 2016, Texture, Photo Album, Documents, Favorites, Software, Project, Personal Project, Professional Project.
I logged in and went through all the recovered folders on your website. I've browsed them for a while and believe everything I need is there. William from London ON
Seagate Desktop HDD hard disk failure is imminent error message
This drive was in an external kit sitting on top of the PC tower. It fell and now only clicks a little and doesn't sound like platters are spinning.
What an impressive result at such affordable fixed price, exactly as stated on your website. I will recommend your drive repair services to my friends and colleagues. Dave L. Corona CA USA
Most Acer's users usually remove the failed hard drive from the laptop and send it along to data restoration lab, unless the system recovery is required and the new drive-clone must be tested in-lab to make sure the operating system is bootable.
But not all Acer laptops designed with an easy drive-replacement feature. In fact, to remove the drive from most of the modern ACER laptops you have to literally take the whole computer apart to get an access to the drive. The example below gives a demonstration of drive removal manipulations that must be applied to a particular Acer laptop model.
Anyway, that example may give you a fast outlook for drive removal directions for the most typical ACER laptops. A proper type of screwdriver and some sharp tip of a plastic (preferable) tool and few hints are all what you need now for fast and easy drive removing job.
Remove the keyboard, and disconnect the four flexible cables: 1) Keyboard cable 2) Keyboard Light cable, 3) Power-On button cable and 4) Touch-pad cable. NOTE: To disconnect Power-On button cable and Touch-pad cable you need also remove 4 screws.
Now you can start opening the upper cover with a plastic opening tool. After splitting the cover from the bottom part, right under the upper cover you will find the hard drive as shown on the picture below. Lift the drive up about 30 or 45 degrees and pull it out.
Because the drivers on Gigabyte's site were very old I used this post to find the newest one (in my case: 64bit Intel RST(e) AHCI/RAID Drivers v12.9.4.1000) and installed it via Device Manager, update driver.
Check Control Panel --> Device Manager --> Disks --> double click on the disk drives and make sure that under Policies tab drive 'write cache' is enabled and there is no 'optimize for quick removal' enabled. This is directly related with how windows considered or not a drive being removable.
It's not a solution for your system drive. For that the best bet is to find the most recent driver. If that does not work for you might want to change your 3rd party AHCI/RAID controller driver to the 'Generic SATA AHCI controller' that was shipped with Windows.
In my case I had disks attached to a Marvell adapter show up like that. After changing them to create an MS storage space instead of a Marvell mirrored drive they appeared in the normal spot thus making them available to disk optimization too.
I did all the above and my system still thought my two hard drives were removable drives but I did the following and It fixed the problem. Check Control Panel --> Device Manager --> Disks -->right click on the drive in question and select properties --> then select Volumes --> populate... this will identify the drive as a hard drive. Once done, reboot . All fixed.
This is generic problem of windows 64 bit versions. Microsoft has yet to find and fix the issue. It is related to performance. 64 bit operations cannot cope up so 64bit os is patched to treat internal drive as portable removable drive.Install 32bit version of windows, this issue is not there.
As I mentioned in the step 11, you should be able to pull the DVD drive without removing the top cover assembly. But in my case it was fitted very tightly and I had to remove the top cover in order to remove the DVD drive.
Hi I have a dvr pavillion. Lapto the internal speaker stop sounding. But if I connect it to external speaker is working, I have changed the internal speaker is not working I even connected the speaker to another dv6 the speaker was working. So what can I do to resolve the issues.
At the time of writing this comment I found two BRAND NEW motherboards for Acer Aspire 5560 listed for about $40 on eBay! Search for stickers on your motherboard and compare part numbers with listed motherboards.
Those listings look like they are for motherboards that would work for a 5560 (which is an older/different looking laptop), not a 5560-Sb653. I also noticed that in this guide it states the laptop can only handle up to 4GB (2GB each slot) of DDR2 ram. I know for a fact this is wrong since I have 2 sticks of 4GB DDR3 ram in mine. Anywho, when I have the time to, I will disassemble my laptop to record the part number(s) for verification.
Besides the batterie,160 gig hard dr sticks1 g of ram, is there anythaing else that can be removed from the back side. it seems like something is missing in the bigger space.not sure since this is 1st time I have opened up the back
Thank you! this really helped me a lot. i was trying to upgrade the optical drive and i got the same problem after removing the back screw it was tightly fitted and would not come out. All i did was remove the key board and pushed it out from step 13 threw the small opening. thanks again!
@taz, did you have to do a complete dismantling? or just after removing the screws at the back, removed the keyboard, took out the metal plate and removed the MB without the need to remove the screen. Thanks.
Thanks for the great info. My power supply was shorting and I first tried a new cord but evidently the solder connections behind the jack are very fragile. I re-soldered and was able to do my own repair. Thanks for the website ?
On my Acer, for steps 6-8 it seems there are two other latches, one on each side [near the Tab key on the left, near the + key on the right] which are preventing removal of the keyboard. They will not push in. Any suggestions?
After reassembly, WiFi did not work. I took it apart again and found that the two wires connected to the WiFi card had unplugged when I removed the motherboard. I reconnected and everything worked fine. A picture or mention of those connectors would have been helpful.
This works for 5560-7402 also. The comment for cleaning the fan by blowing air in is ok if you place a paper clip into the fan to stop the fan from spinning while blowing air in, otherwise you can damage the fan.
I have a question about the USB ports on the Acer Aspire 5517. My wife has ruined both of them and I was wondering how you can replace them, fix them or add new ports to her laptop. Amy help would be appreciated.
I also had both ports break on my Acer Aspire 5517. Is it easier to replace the entire motherboard than try to repair the USB ports? I have been told that it is risky to try to solder replacement ones on the motherboard because it is easy to fry the board. How do I replace the motherboard?
