I don't know if any of you caught the CBC podcast a couple days ago about a local pilot taking part in a special fly-over as part of the 100 year anniversary events at Vimy Ridge. He will be flying a Nieuport 11 replica [ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nieuport_11 ] that is based in BC. The Nieuport 11 is an open cockpit biplane which was used by the Royal Flying Corp in the early days of World War I.

Pilot (Captain) Rod Ermen of Sherwood Park who spent 13 years flying in the Canadian military including two years (1996, 1997) flying with the Snowbirds team will be flying over the Vimy Memorial in April as a member of a squadron flying historic aircraft. He will be flying as pilot of a 7/8 scale Nieuport 11. He is joined by 10 other pilots and 5 other aircraft (3 other Nieuports and 2 Sopwith Pups). The aircraft are being transported over to France in a C17.
