Betreff: Lunchtime dialogue of Faith Leaders on Climate Adaptation: Thursday 29 Nov @ 13h00

Dear Faith leaders and delegates at COP18,

The International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN) has organised a series of lunchtime dialogues on the theme of adaptation to climate change.

Join us on Thursday 29 November at 13h00 until 14h00 in Room 11 of the side events Hall 4.

The event is an open dialogue, the key questions we may consider include:

  • How do faith based organisations move from a reactive mode to a proactive approach to building climate resilience - both social and ecological?
  • What can the faith sector do about public education on the vulnerability, impacts and risks of social conflict due to climate stress?
  • What is the faith sector doing about strengthening the capacity of communities and faith institutions to advocate for effective national adaptation policies that take into account the needs of the poor, those dependent on natural resources, indigenous peoples and others at risk?

Please share this information with others interested in this theme. The summary and main recommendations will be shared back into the faith sector and to the IUCN.

As a reminder, IUCN's Quadrennial congress passed a resolution in September 2012, committing it to work more closely with the global faith sector on issues of biodiversity conservation, climate advocacy and associated social justice.
