Dear all,
ANDMA Ghor reported that the PDMC meeting was held this morning in DRRD office in Ghor province to review the recent flooding and its humanitarian impact on the commutes in Ghor province.
In the meeting it was reported that In Checghcharan city, provincial center of province, 148 houses have been damaged from which 50 houses have been totally collapsed. One individual died and 116 water points [wells] were destroyed.
Response:
So far PRT has provided 2 tones of flour and 200 liters of edible oil.

In the meeting it was also reported that 2,500 families were affected by flood and as a result 11 people [2 children] were killed and many properties were lost.All these 2,500 families are in dire need of humanitarian assistance.
Reports from Charsada district  indicate that this district has been affected by flood too, but due to inaccessibility no further information is available.

In the meeting all national and international organization were asked for their contribution.

Action:

A subcommittee of PDMC was tasked to conduct the rapid need assessment of the affected areas.

Available stocks in Ghor [Cheghcharan] :

1. UNICEF stock: Family kit 382 ,cooking stove gas slinder 79,collapseable wanter container 10 lit 339,bucket 40 lit, 300, bucket 20 , 280 ,blanket 185, water purification tabs 160 pack, jaket in different size 2,510 , plastic floor mat 168, high energy bisutes 250 cartons [each cartons 8kg] ,new born baby kit 200 kit, basic family water kit 4 kit .
2.- IOM stock: 130 winter
3.- ARCS and DopH stocks, 200 blanket

Gaps:
Althought there no  proper assessment has been conducted so for, but considering the reports of the needs and available resource in the province  There is a need for additional resources to be mobilized especially for Lal-wa-Sarjangal.

Flash Floods in Ghor Province




Dear all,
ANDMA Ghor informed OCHA last night at 2100hrs( 04 May) that it is heavily raining in Gheghcheran ,provincial center of Ghor province,  Lal-wa-Sarjangal  and Charsada districts of Ghor province .According to ANDMA Flash flood has caused lots damages to the aforementioned areas.. The magnitude of the disaster is not clear yet.
Today at 06:30 am OCHA contacted ANDMA Ghor for more information and updates of situation  .ANDMA reported that Police HQ in Ghor has received a fax from Police station in Law-wa-Sarjangal indicating that  Lal-wa-Sarjangal is affected by heavy rain and flooding, namely Dezad ,Shoghal,Roghanghol,Khoja-e-josh villages Reportedly three people have died. More detail of the event is not availed yet.
OCHA recommended ANDMA to call for a PDMC meeting and send an assessment team to conduct a rapid assessment of the area. Meanwhile, I want to request all humanitarian agencies and other organizations working in Ghor to provide us with the information they may have on flooding and its humanitarian impact on communities in Ghor province. Those who do not have presence in Ghor and are covering Ghor from WR please keep your emergency stocks on stand by and once we received the assessment report of PDMC will share it with you for your consideration.

Emergency Stock Available in Ghor:
According ANDMA Ghor PDMC has 130 winter kit [from IOM ] and 200 blankets in their stock.
