All,

Recently Alex Payne, an early employee at Twitter, has recently invested $1M in The Working World. This organization is essentially a VC with a social mission to invest in worker-owned cooperatives. Here is a link to his blog post on why he invested:

I expect we will see more of these types of investments in the future. I would like to see Co-op Source function, partly, as a VC or Credit Union, by investing in individual project cooperatives. It would be like The Working World but with a software focus.

Thoughts? Comments?

I think it's a good vision, but it would be more exciting to me to see a tight focus on solving a single problem first, even if it's not part of the core idea, just as a way to learn and try out your principles. Maybe you could pick a project to work as a first Co-op Source project?

Oh yes, that is on the agenda. I have several candidates to choose from.

Having a project launch and bring in $ will help cover costs and provide an example - so we won't have to "explain" quite so much.
