Thanks to all the Coopers Rock Foundation members and friends who volunteered this past weekend for the Annual Coopers Rock Halloween Candy Trailwork Weekend. The volunteer effort resulted in 100.5 hours of trailwork performed by a total of 28 volunteers, spread over two days and 12 hours of working time.
The focus of the work was drainage maintenance on popular trails. On Saturday, we worked on the first 1,500' of Roadside Trail starting from the Front Gate, and then worked on about 1,000' of Advanced Ski Trail. We also covered the upper leg of the Intermediate Loop. On Sunday, we worked on Rhododendron Trail from the trailhead down to the 3-way intersection, and then 250' of trail from there, toward the Iron Furnace. Much of the work was cleaning out leaves, sediment, mud, rocks and sticks from dips, waterbars, drainage ditches and culverts. Numerous water bars and dips were redug and reshaped. A few small new drainage dips and water bars were added.
Excellent weather and lots of candy were enjoyed by all volunteers. If you would like to have your name added to the CRF Trailwork E-mail List, please send a request to Adam Polinski, at adamza...@gmail.com .
