Dear Coopers Rock Foundation members and friends,

Thanks to your efforts and friends of Coopers Rock all over the state, our legislators in Charleston are studying the question of which state agency is best suited to manage this valuable resource. In essence the question is whether the Division of Forestry (DOF) should be permitted to continue to extract the timber resource on a commercial scale with little to no financial reimbursement to the general upkeep of the facilities and trails in the forest, or should the Division of Natural Resources (DNR) be the lead agency because they are better suited to managing a recreational area like Coopers Rock.

The Coopers Rock Foundation believes that the DNR is the agency best suited to address the complex conservation, recreation, and historical preservation needs of the forest and we are making that argument to the Legislators in Charleston on Monday November 14th.  We ask that you once again contact your legislator or the legislators assigned to the Interim Committee that is charged with studying this issue, and express your views.  I am attaching both the contact information for the committee members as well as a copy of the study resolution.

Thank you again for all your support.  Please contact me with any questions you may have.
