Apologies for this method, but I thought the timing and uniqueness of these opps might warrant a post on the list:

Job/Consulting Opp: C/C++ Architect on Email Branding App
Company looking for a startup-style C/C++ architect that would be interested in correcting and improving a great idea, with a small team that we are developing into a world class team.  This C/C++ Architect should be strong regarding:

SMTP servers (Exim, sendmail, qmail) from the code up, OpenLDAP (using BerkeleyDB) and migrating to Postgres,
and a strong understanding of XML/web services (including the development of server processes on a FreeBSD
platform) and would be interested in a cash/equity participation in this company.

In particular, I am looking at someone who would be up for a three month trip to South Africa (sunny, warm, friendly people) to train the team and develop the codebase effectively, and then potentially migrate the development team out of the paradise and into a US or UK location.  Salary would be comparable to US numbers and the holding company is based in London.

Travel and living expenses will be covered (to a point) and salary and bonus structure on delivery in paramount.

Interested?  Know of anyone that is?  Please contact me with your CV.

Consulting Opp: UGC Business Model on a Mobile Network

At the end of February, I have a client in the Middle East who is planning on building out a mobile network (it is in operation, but they want to extend the product offering) with a focus on a content play.  The best way to think about it is taking the social network/presence concepts and combine them with UGC and finding a way to monetize them.  This is an opportunity to help create a whole new technology/engagement play on a white canvass of a mobile network.

Usage on the network doubles every year - up to 20M mobiles on it at present time.  18 months is the length of life on the mobile handsets.  I need two people:
  1. a person who would combine the social network concept with mobile network concept to generate revenue beyond minutes and bytes
  2. a person who can add a breadth of knowledge above and beyond the space which can play quite out of the box, but brings it back to reality (thinking of new ideas but comes back to pragmatism).
Are you up for it?  Have mobile dreams?  Send me your CV and I must speak to the project lead.  He has said two people, if they were top notch - which is why i am sending it out here.

Thanks and best to you all.

Sanford
