to Cooperative Maine
Take this opportunity to support of Maine Community Power Cooperative's cooperative model of ownership at the State House.

LD 1966 aims to allow groups like MCPC to continue to operate within the net energy billing framework or one similar to it. LD 1966 had a public hearing last fall, had a work session in January, and has another TODAY. MCPC needs your support to push LD 1966 forward. Take a moment to fill out this form and sign this petition to send a message to legislators on the Energy, Utilities, and Technology Committee to ask them to vote “ought to pass” on LD 1966? Below is an example of what to submit. Here is 1966 the fact sheet so that you can rewrite the below statement or draft a separate message. You can also reach out directly to your representatives and to the EUT Committee (info included below).

I am writing in support of LD 1966 and the Maine Community Power Cooperative (MCPC). MCPC is a Maine-based, member-owned energy cooperative developing small, community solar projects that prioritize low- and moderate-income ratepayers, local control, and responsible land use.
MCPC’s model is fundamentally different from large, profit-driven solar development. It delivers actual savings to the ratepayer, strengthens grid resiliency, and keeps decision-making in the hands of Maine people through their cooperative business structure.
The passage of LD 1777 unintentionally put all their work at risk. Now LD 1966 offers a practical, time-limited solution that protects ratepayers while allowing truly community-owned projects like MCPC to move forward, but at a lower compensation rate than before.
I urge the Committee to vote in support of the amended LD 1966 and the Maine Community Power Cooperative.
Thank you for your time.
